Jonathan Atwell is Senior Pastor of CrossRoads Church in North Richland Hills. He has a Masters of Divinity with Biblical Languages from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth and a Bachelors of Arts in Applied Ministries from Oklahoma Baptist University. He has served in ministry for over fourteen years in Texas and Oklahoma. Jonathan and his wife, Shelly, celebrated their tenth anniversary in 2007. Having grown up in North Texas, Jonathan graduated from Richland High School in 1993 and brings a home-town flavor to the CrossRoads Church family.
Jonathan Atwell became Senior Pastor of CrossRoads Church in May, 2003, but his roots at CrossRoads go much deeper than his employment. Jonathan and his wife Shelly moved to the Metroplex in December 1999. Very soon they began attending CrossRoads and joined our church family in February 2000. Jonathan began leading music during our Worship Gatherings in a volunteer capacity. By the time summer 2000 arrived, it became clear to CrossRoads' Leadership Team that our families needed someone to lead ministry with our teenagers. Because Jonathan had served as a full-time youth pastor for three years prior to coming to Fort Worth, he began to volunteer as our Youth Pastor as he worked on his master's degree.
In December 2002, when our Founding Pastor, Paul Gomez, moved to Manhattan to begin a new ministry, Jonathan and Stan Graham, another seminary student, co-pastored CrossRoads on an interim basis as CrossRoads leadership made important decisions about the direction of the church. After carefully considering the best course of action, CrossRoads leadership asked Jonathan to continue his service with the CrossRoads family as our Senior Pastor.
