What's you story? Part 3: Feeling Loved not Superior

What’s your story? Part 3 of my stoy is about how I came to know one of my favorite words: GRACE. Check out how I came to know my hope is in what Jesus has done for me rather than what I can do for God.

What challenges have you faced in your story? At CrossRoads, one of our greatest joys is offering hope to people facing their stories’ biggest challenges.

What's your story? Part 2: Junior High, Bullies & Jesus

What’s your story? Part 2 of my story begins in Junior High. As loved and accepted as I felt in my early years, everything changed somewhere between 6th and 8th grade. I guess that’s probably the case for most of us.

I’m angry, and I lied

I’m angry, and I lied

I’m angry, and I lied about what’s next here at CrossRoads. I kind of lost it this week. I woke up Thursday morning and had to record this video. OK, I didn’t really lie. I guess changed my mind — or course-corrected might be a better description of what is happening.

I’ve been talking with Christians this week about the direction their lives are going. The vibe I get is that they are just trying to get by the best between here and the grave. Is that the way Jesus taught us to live? Or did he plan for us to change the world?

So, that’s where we’re going. Come with us this Sunday, and let’s change the world.

Celebrate Christmas with us Today

Come celebrate Christmas with us…

Your family is invited to celebrate Christmas with us today at CrossRoads Church. We’ve all hustled and bustled, and now it’s time to celebrate together. Because two thousand years ago a child was born to us, there is light and life here in the darkness. So, come celebrate Christmas with us at 9:30 and 11:00 this morning and at our candlelight service tonight at 5:30.

Come remember Jesus’ birth

As we celebrate Christmas, come remember Jesus’ birth. One night as a young couple made their way to pay taxes in the town of Bethlehem, the world changed. As they spent the night in the stable with the animals, the long-awaited Messiah was born. As a young mother wrapped God’s Son in cloths and laid in a manger, God sent out an invitation. This invitation couldn’t be ignored. The sky outside Bethlehem filled with angels inviting shepherds (shepherds?!) to Jesus’ bedside. They came empty-handed to visit the Savior. They left with a gift: the good news that they had seen (and probably held) the Messiah.

Come receive God’s gifts

As we celebrate Christmas, come receive God’s gifts. Just like the shepherds on that night in Bethlehem, God invites us – invites you to come celebrate his Son’s birth. And, just like the shepherds, he expects us to come empty-handed. He offers the gifts to us. First, he offers us his presence. God has always been present with his people. Likewise, Jesus promises his presence when his people gather. And, he offers us the same good news of great joy the shepherds received: Christ is born.

So, come celebrate Christmas with us today. As we gather at 9:30 and 11:00, we will talk about what it was like for God to become man. Then, tonight at 5:30, we will sing Christmas carols, light candles and share the story of Jesus’ birth. We hope you will come remember Jesus birth and receive God’s gifts with us today.

Pray with us for the nations

I want to invite you to pray with us for the nations this Christmas season. Throughout the New Testament, we read about God’s desire for all people to hear the message of Christ. There are still over 6,000 people groups who do not have a Christian presence among them. Help us pray for these people groups by taking a card from the Christmas tree in our foyer this weekend. Then, pray with your family for that group this Christmas season.

Check out joshuaproject.net and peoplegroups.org for more info on Unreached People Groups your family can pray for throughout the year.
